“Mmm… That’s not your business. ” –

My name is Jeanette, and I am a border baby. I have lived and evolved on the cusp of two worlds. My love of food and the written word began around the same time, my childhood. I saw food and books as the culmination of art, history, and culture on both plates and pages, both an explanation and an invitation to life.
I have worked in the restaurant industry for eight years, and have recently delved into the world of fermentation. I am a Journalism and History major at Southwestern College and was the Arts editor of The Southwestern College Sun. Throughout my time there, I won the San Diego Press Club Award of Excellence, and Associated Collegiate Press Newspaper Pacemaker.
My love learning has always been nurtured by my family, as I come from a family of educators. Curiosity is a great part of how I’ve gotten to this point in my life. After attaining my Associates in Baking and Pastry, I knew I had so much more that I want to learn and explore, and decided to go back to school. This site is a way to document and share the things that I’m learning along the way.
